Holding off development to the south of Worcester

A public consultation during the – since withdrawn – South Worcestershire Joint Core Strategy exercise identified Holdings Lane (shown here) between the existing South Worcester suburb of St Peters and the village of Kempsey as the boundary of a new urban extension. This so-called urban extension is still “planned” but its scale and precise location are yet to be determined through the new South Worcestershire Development Plan. In the meantime, planning blight has become a problem, as it has in much of Worcester’s green environs.

Fortunately, however, Holdings Farm shown above has been acquired by the Worcestershire branch of the RSPCA for their new local rescue centre.
